Just For Today...: Close to this time last year...

Our sweet Ella Grace is turning 2 in just a few short weeks. We will celebrate this joyous occasion on her birthday, Friday, September 11th. This time last year, we were faced with Hurricane Ike and I spent the entire day driving 25 miles an hour to San Antonio to evacuate along with thousands of other residents of Sugar Land/Houston/Galveston and the surrounding areas. We are thanking God for his grace this year as we renew our flood insurance and pack up our Hurricane kits (just in case) Last year, I was in San Antonio garage saling the day of the storm. Josh on the other hand was still here with several other members of our family holding what I refer to as a "Hurricane Party" This may or may not have involved a few drinks and a quick boat ride! :) Just kidding!! It had a whole lot to do with fighting the lines at Lowes for overpriced ply wood to board up the windows and getting in line for the last of the candles and canned raviolis! Anyways, again I am thanking God for his grace this year as we do not intend to dig anymore post holes!

Back to my thought ... Ella Grace.. I asked her what she wanted for her birthday and she replied with no hesitation and such glee "CA A A A A KE! My eyes got wide to mimic hers and I broke into a very excited grin and said to her.. Really?? She said Yep! I asked her what kind of cake she wanted and again her eyes got bright and her face was so pleased as she said "BATMAN"..Really? My sweet little angel princess wants a batman cake?

She was certain as she shook her head, grabbed her Joe (Bubba's GI Joe) and said to me.. yep.. batman cake..

Ella's surprise party that we had the weekend we got back to Houston and the power came back on! She was all about it being her birthday at this point!
