Saturday Summer Fun

If you follow me on Facebook, you would have seen that on Thursday I was more than ready for Saturday to come so I could spend the day at the neighborhood swimming pool. That is exactly what we did, all day! Josh and I started the day off right with the "no-alarm" wake up, a pancake breakfast that I made, :) and a few circles around the block for garage sale finds ... before hitting up the pool. A few of the great things that I love about hanging out here is that it is free, both of the kids love the water, and there are always a few other toddlers enjoying their summer day at the kiddie pool. Plus, I get a tan! :) Today was especially special, because Caleb decided he was tired of swimming in the 1 foot pool with the "babies". He has had a hesitation of the "deep water" (3 feet in the shallow part) and even with a life jacket will hold on for dear life to the neck of Josh or I if we can coax him to come in. On one or two other occasions he has ventured off of the steps with little help and a life jacket at Granny's house and once at Aunt Eileen's, but we haven't seen it since..
One of the great things about other toddlers coming to the pool, is all of them have swimming pool appropriate toys that can and will be shared with the other kids.. its inevitable.. you always want what other people have and for some reason their spider man blow up floaties are WAY better than your sponge bob ones! And in an attempt to be the best and bravest of all the toddlers there--most vying for their parent's or closest adults undivided attention as they make a spectacular splash or finally put their face under the water, you decide it is time to make a milestone with your swimming capabilities...
Hence, Caleb jumping off of the side of the "deep water" with another toddler's OH SO AWESOME floaties and swam straight to me.. He kept getting out and doing it over and over until all of his new found friends were cheering him on.. some were 2, some were 6, and the mom's were so gracious to keep a constant chant of Go Caleb Go up as well.. I am so proud of Caleb and hope that he keeps it up. Here are a few pics of our day.. Oh, one of the other things that we had fun doing was watching daddy jump off the diving board!

Oh my gosh! Looks like you guys had a BLAST!! I can't wait to be able to take Julian to the pool next year. It is one of my favorite summer things and I hope he will enjoy it as much as I do.
